There is no need to introduce the iconic Porsche 911 to anyone, is there? It’s “the” sports car of all times! But what makes it so special? It’s price? It’s reputation? It’s racing history? Or the complete package?
I can not even tell you how long I have waited for this post to come. The #911 post! Is it love? It’s more than that. Have you ever wondered why I post my daily blog at precisely 9:11 am every single day? A coincident? Most likely not!
The best day of my life so far? Exactly! The day I had this beauty.
But what makes it so special? What is it that makes the 911 so different to anything else? It’s the complete package. The concept, the history, the driving style, the traction, the road presents, …
You know that I am an engineer. Of course we could dive deep into the topic, focusing on every detail. But that’s not the point I want to make today. Today is just a day to celebrate. The Porsche 911 still lives. They are out there. We can experience them. Drive them. Love them. Own them.
When will I get my first Porsche? A tricky question actually. Someone could assume that I was born at the wrong time. With the current political orientation destroying Germany slowly but steadily, the prices of Porsches went nuts. Of course Porsches were always expensive. But that expensive? There comes a day when we have to decide. What is the best option for us? What makes sense? What feels right? And right now, well, I am just not sure about the future of cars in Germany. My current plan? Getting a Porsche that I can also use on the track in case the speed limit will actually come. Experts think that the speed limit will not change everything in Germany, like they can observe in every other country of the world that has introduced one, but they forget one thing. We are Germans after all. We think differently! We do things that make sense! We will still get the 911, no doubt about that. But not the super fast models.
The future of the 911? Will it become fully electric? A hybrid? The 911 will endure time, adapting to whatever is needed to stay alive. Forever 911.
