At the end of the day there is no real reason to drive in circles for hours without an end, we just do it because that’s what people do. Following traditions and routines. Since the day I was born people were driving in circles to figure out who is the fastest. Why should we change this now? We have all the infrastructure, cars, racetracks and the like. But racing has changed. In the past, motorsport was a “driver” for developments in the automotive industry. Nevertheless, it was always just about the money. Win on Sundays, sell on Mondays is and will forever be the maxim. But that’s not just a motorsport thing. It’s always about the money, isn’t it? Money and fun!

Motorsport is possible because people like to compete against each other. For sure, that’s mainly a man made problem, but woman also have joined the game. If you do motorsport professionally, of course it’s just about you and your career. But once motorsport is just a hobby, an expensive hobby to be precise, the focus is suddenly changing. It’s no longer about being the fastest around the track, it’s all about getting into a car next race again. It’s all about maintaining to be able to continue one of the best hobbies in the world.

Being able to afford racing is a complicated thing. Some seem to have all the money in the world, but others don’t. In fact, the majority of people in the world can’t afford racing. At least not big events. Nevertheless, there are cheaper alternatives, starting from virtual racing, to aut’o slalom, and events like this. Of course it can always get really expensive, but that’s somehow fine. We don’t need much more than this anyways.

The perspective is everything. Do you want to make a career in motorsport, no matter as a driver, engineer, or team owner? There are millions of ways how to do that. But first you have to figure out what you want.

See you next time!
