#1260² PASSION, MOTIVATION & MINDSET² – S6 E8 – USELESS TO KNOW

Knowledge? Experience? Something in between? A combination of both?

We go to school to learn for life, but we all know that this isn’t true. What we learn at school might be useful somehow, somewhere, somewhen, agreed, but there are also other important things to know about. Things nobody is teaching us anywhere in our society.

It’s life’s job to teach us those lessons, I understand, but it could be so much easier.

Useless to know is nothing in life. It all adds up to another. It’s the combination of knowledge and experience that make the difference. But it’s not just the one side or the other. One side is nothing without the other. Theory and practice, we all know the struggle. You go to university to become an engineer, but you become the engineer after a lot of years out there using the skills you have acquired. The day you are holding your diploma in your hands, congratulations, but you are not an engineer now. You can become one over time. And that’s basically with everything in life.

See you next time!

Agreed. It’s all about who we become at the end of the day. For instance, in martial arts, it isn’t enough to wear a black belt. That’s just a signifier. But who you are as a martial artist—and your skills—is more important. Anyway, thanks for this post!
