I was on a recent old-timer event. Not that it’s an unknown territory for me, but just not very affordable.
When I started to develop an interest into cars in my late teenager years, the world of historic automobiles was already changing. The finance crisis in 2008 was only a couple of years back in time and people have started to invest in old cars heavily. Back then you could buy a very good used Porsche 911 for around half the money you need today. Not that I would have the money back then and even if I had the money, I would have probably saved it up like I always do. So, historic cars are nice to look at but not really on my top priority list.
Will I get one in the future? Definitely! Why? Because whatever Porsche I will buy, I will keep forever.
But buying a car that is already old? Well, that depends on the price developments. I am not interested in owning a car for the pure finical benefit. I want to use the cars and drive with them. So who knows, maybe my generation will no longer be interested in cars which will leave more for me. We will see. Until then I will focus on something more modern.
See you next time!
