In the past people would work in companies forever. Changing the job wasn’t really an option. At least not for those kind of people in life that need safety. Changing a job is like jumping into cold water again. Everything could get better but it also could get much worse. So people didn’t change their job so often. Then, and I guess the 21st century internet connection is responsible for that, people started to compare themselves to the world around them. Job posts were no longer just a newspaper thing. Head hunters, social media, you name it. Within seconds you can find a suitable position for you around the world.
The grass looks always greener on the other side of the fence. People start to feel like missing out. People do not longer work in a toxic work environment. The years in which people just did whatever their boss demanded are long over. Today, the employees seems to be in control. Of course there is never anybody in control, but it looks like the current job market makes it a bit more easy for an employee to find a job than vice versa.
And so of course I am wondering as well. It’s been two years at Magna already. Do I want to move on? Do I have to move on? Where should I go? When should I leave the company?
For me it’s quite easy to decide. I like my current job, I like my team, I like my boss, everything seems to be fine. Of course there are things that could be organized better, but show me one company that is perfect. Spoiler alert, there isn’t one. So changing my job shouldn’t be something to consider? Right? Well, actually it is…
I will keep you updated.
See you next time!
