#1488² RACING IS LIFE² – S9 E8 – THE END OF MOTORSPORT

The end is near. Either this, or I am just getting older.

Normal Motorsport fans watch other people drive in circles. Cool motorsport fans want to do it themselves. But how should someone afford racing when it is so expensive? The answer is quite simple. They can’t afford it. Sim racing might be the only chance we have.

But what is a motorsport without the fans? It’s not possible. Million of people watch formula one. Millions of them have no clue about motorsport. They like the event, the party, the alcohol. Who wins doesn’t even matter. They want to see crashes, drama, fails. It’s sad, but it’s the reality. Just give it a couple of more years and motorsport will be gone. The younger generations do not care. They have other things in mind.

I don’t think that motorsport will be there like this forever. Sure, the big events will stay. Le Mans, formula one, you name it. But what about the small events? What about the amateur racing? The gentleman drivers? The world will change once again. Maybe motorsport gets around the next corner. Maybe e-fuels and recycling will help to keep the spirit alive. But one day or another questions will be asked. Questions where too many people will have the wrong answer to.

See you next time!
