Sleep is whatever happens between closing our eyes in the evening and opening them again in the morning. But sleep is not just sleep. Sometimes we sleep good, sometimes we have a terrible night. Sometimes we remember our dreams, sometimes we don’t seem to dream at all. The thing I have noticed is, that our nights are clearly connected to our days and vice versa. We sleep poorly the night before an important presentation or exam, we sleep good after a long day working in the garden. But again, sleep is not just sleep. We all seem to sleep better in our own bed in a familiar environment. Traveling or being on the road for a longer period of time is effecting our sleep rhythm and quality. But not just that. The way I sleep determines how my days are. The way how my days are determines how my nights will be. It’s a circle that is deeply connected to each other. In recent time I noticed how poorly my sleep really is. There could be thousands of things to consider, but as it seems, the longer I think about it, the closer I get to the very same effects I see in other fields of life too. It’s the stress level, the lifestyle, the nutrition, the status of our body and the activities we do all day long.
We spend a lot of time sleeping but still we know so little about it. Be thankful if you are experiencing a good amount of sleep every day! It’s so important! But the most of the time we only recognize that, when our sleep becomes poorly.
See you next time!
