What happens if you stop, just for a second or two? The answer is quite clear! Nothing! But even though nothing really happens, I struggle so much with take a break. The best example that comes to mind is driving longer distances for me. I like driving. I love driving. But driving somewhere is stressing me out. I feel the tension in my body. I feel the nervousness taking over. My body is reacting to it. I can still remember the days when I had to drive to lake constance for studying. Sometimes I would drive Sundays and guess what, my Sundays were ruined. Later on I was driving Monday mornings but guess what, now my Mondays would be ruined. Foolish me, I thought that it would get better over time. I would have a better car. I would have reached all my goals. But the truth is, it never actually got better. I don’t know why I have such a big problem with uncertainty, but it’s what I feel. I guess I got it from my parents. They are both very similar to me. They don’t enjoy driving somewhere at all. Well, maybe I have picked that up over the years when I was sitting with them in the car. Nevertheless, the past is gone already. What I have to find out is a way how to deal with it right now. Why, you might wonder? Because I think that this is the first problem I have to solve right now. How can I overcome this fear of the unknown. How can I overcome my nervousness before meetings, meeting people in general, doing stuff for the first time, you name it. What I have noticed is the following. In those moments my body seems to be out of control. My breathing is different, my behavior is different. I right on the edge. Never relaxed. Never within harmony with myself. The solution is quite obvious! I need to tackle these situations differently. I need to remove the pressure. I need to go into those situations with an open mind. May come whatever happens. I stay calm and reflected. I know that nothing bad will happen. Enjoy this moment. Don’t live in the future, don’t live in the past. The only thing that matters is right now.
See you next time!
