It’s never completely dark. Neither outside, nor in your apartment. I don’t know if you have noticed, but we can see in the darkness, at least a little bit. Of course cats see more, but our eyesight is not that bad either. I love to walk through my apartment in the dark. There is this joke my GF should me a couple of weeks ago. There is a boy hiding underneath a blanket with a flashlight looking very scared. Next to him is his grandfather that says. My dear boy, now you are afraid of the dark, but soon, when you have to pay the electric bill yourself, you will be afraid about the light.
Not the best joke in the world, but for a German it’s hitting pretty hard. That’s not the reason why I love to walk in the darkness. I have just always liked the challenge to orient yourself in a room without light. Sometimes as a child, I would get lost in my own room, not figuring out where I was. Back then you didn’t have a smartphone in your pocket. You had to find a way out. And I always did. That’s one way of practicing problem solving. You stop relying on one sense only and start listening to what your other senses are saying.
Light is good, because it shows us the way. But it shows us anyway, not our way.
See you next time!
