#2420 WRITING A BOOK

It’s such a fuzzy process, really. You have something in your mind. The idea. The story line. But brining it down onto a piece of paper, that’s something else entirely. I have developed two different approaches.

The first one can be called the reading change. I would just start reading from the beginning or the last chapter and read through the damn thing. It helps to keep the story in mind. It helps to find obvious mistakes. But you are overreading a lot of stuff. You get trapped in the need for reading until your current work status, that you are pretty exhausted when you reach it. In the first weeks that’s a good approach, later on it gets frustrating.

The better alternative is an actual story writing approach. You would start writing down whatever you have in mind. Either with just some kind of words, maybe already in finished sentences. There is no right or wrong. Just write it down. Rethink it and if you want, you can always change it later. You have to get into the flow. Do whatever it takes to get there. I mean, don’t take drugs or stuff like this. But if you have to light a candle, do it. If you have to get up early in the morning, do it. It’s important that you feel good. Never pressured, never under stress.

See you next time!
