We live in this world and call it a modern life. We have reached a technological peak, “breath taking”. But no matter how far we have come, we are still lacking one important thing. An empathy for each other.
Gendering, racism, discrimination, you name it. The problem? The approach!
When there is one thing our society has taught us, it’s the defamation of other peoples opinions which are, at least from our point of view, wrong. And so we are going through life believing that we know exactly what is right and what is wrong. The only problem? Do we know the truth?
There are Covid-19 rules out there. Rules that we have to obey. But that is what “life” is all about. That’s how communities work. That’s the only way how a civilized world is possible.
I want to compare the current Covid-19 related discussions with something we all know. Traffic. The moment you enter your car in order to drive anywhere, you have to obey the rules. All of them? Theoretically yes, but practically no. A speed limit is a speed limit. If you drive faster and the speed camera gets you, you will be punished. If the speed camera doesn’t catch you, lucky you. But was your behavior ok? Socially acceptable? It depends. Is the speed limit there for a reason? Are there kids crossing the road? Does the speed limit makes sense? At the end of the day, you have to pay the fine anyways. But why is there a speed limit? Because speeding kills? We have all heard that one: “It’s not the speed that kills you, it’s the sudden stop.” At the end of the day, no matter how much we will think about it, there is no solution. If the speed limit is there but doesn’t make any sense, it’s still there. We still have to obey the rules. Our alternatives? We can stop driving. We can drive an alternative route. We can obey the speed limit.
The Covid-19 related discussions are about who is right and who isn’t. But that’s the least important thing we have to figure out. We are all living in a society. And with that in mind, it’s can’t be only about us all the time. It’s hard to accept, I know. But at the end of the day, this is the way how we have chosen to live.

It could be so easy, but it isn’t. On both sides of the equation! Our solution? Simple. You can read it above! Gendering, racism, discrimination. We take the usual choice. We fight against each other and not with each other. We think about us and not about the people around us. What we have is a lack of empathy.
The way things are getting handled these days is wrong from my point of view. On both sides of the discussion! I thought that people would stick together in times like these, but well we do not. As always in life! And so it’s not a surprise to me that things are getting out of hand.
With me being sick for nearly 2 months already. Not related to Covid-19. My mind has changed. For me, it’s fascinating to observe how many people must live such an awesome life without any problems here in Germany that they can afford to invest so much of their time into this topic. Really interesting!
My solution? It’s not my job to figure this out. I do what I think is the best for the sake of our world. You can do whatever you want 🙂
See you next time!
