#2295 #G = G-CLASS

The infamous Geländewagen from Mercedes Benz. Of course! But it’s not just a car, is it? It’s a lifestyle. For me personally, I have some kind of a connection to it. The “G-Klasse”, as you would say in Germany is produced by Magna Steyr in Graz in Austria. I was working for the German engineering branch of Magna Steyr before my time at Audi. Of course I had nothing to do with the car, not even my the Austrian colleagues. But it still makes me proud to have worked for the same company.

The G-Class was originally planned as a military car. Of course its operational field is the off-road terrain. The only problem is that we can hardly see the car anywhere close to the country side. In the 21st century the G-Klasse has become a car for the city jungle. It’s a lifestyle product that not many people use as originally intended.

I would like to own a G-Class one day, even though the car is a little big too big for my taste. My GF loves it, by the way. If it were up to her, I need to sell my RS3 and get a G-Wagon. Good that Mercedes is working on a “mini-G” version. Then I can buy the mini G for my gf and drive it myself!

It’s coming in the next couple of years and will bring back the short G-Wagon style of the early days of its long existence. It’s announced to be an electric car, but looking at the sales of the big electric G-Class, they have to make a petrol mini G version too. Who knows, if the price is ok, maybe I really get one for my gf in a couple of years. I would love to own a mini G.

See you next time!
