It might sound a bit barbaric, but the best cat toy in the world is a fly. It’s Germany, June, the moment you open your window they are entering the apartment. Little black creatures. Before I had cats, this little things where going on my nerves. You can hear them flying against windows and up and down the glass, looking for a way out. They can’t see the glas, critics might suggest. But now that I am having cats, the fly problem is not really a problem anymore. At least not a problem I need to deal with. I have two little soldiers defending their apartment bravely and holding the front line. Especially our little cats loves to chase them up and down the hallway. Agreed, we also play with our cats and it is getting wild from time to time. But I can’t give my cats what those little flies are doing. They are opening up a three dimensional playground with lots of fast sprints, sudden changes in direction and big jumps. For them, it’s a really good summer activity to stay fit and agile. But of course it’s also a bit sad for the flies. I try to rescue as many as I can, but sometimes they are quicker.
