#2654 GAS PRICES

It’s a topic no-one really likes to talk about. Why? Because it’s uncomfortable. It’s proof that we are idiots and fucked. But let’s start in the beginning.

In Germany you go to a gas station, fill up your car and then go inside and pay what you have filled up. In order to see how much the gas of your desire cost, you can see it in apps online, but also on the big signs at the gas station. Ten or so years ago, gas prices would change a lot during a day. Like expensive in the morning, cheaper in the afternoon, stuff like this. Looking at the prices over the years, gas was gradually getting more expensive. This is what a lot of people forget. It’s not like the Iran conflict came and here we go. No, it went expensive over time too.

When you pay for your fuel you pay a certain amount for each liter you take. Included in there are all kind of taxes and so on. Another point a lot of people forget. The original idea is that with those taxes the roads and bridges are getting repaired. But when you ever were in Germany yourself, you would laugh about that.

Ok, now that Iran thing happened. There was a shortage of fuel. At least in theory, in reality it was never even there. But anyways, and so the prices went up. Ok, understood. But once the problem was solved the prices stayed where they were. Why? Because companies want to make money. The longer they stay up, the better, because who knows how long we will have the fuel until the Iran thing escalates again. So far I can follow, I hope you too. But now comes the incompetent part of the German government. I don’t know what needs to happen until you lose common sense, but they have lost it years ago. Whoever thought it’s a good idea to come up with all these strange rules. Unbelievable. First there was the idea of not allowing the gas stations to increase their prices for a complete day. Wow, what a genius move. Now, instead of having a chance here and there to get cheap fuel, that’s just completely gone and fuel is expensive all day long. Congratulations.

If that wasn’t enough of stupidity. Now comes the next move. Starting from October the taxes will get reduced by 17 cents. Wow. Another genius move. Now the prices will just go up even more that starting from October the prices will be where they were before this decision. The only difference, the fuel company will now earn 10 cents more for each liter. Honestly, I am amazed by how incompetent we have become. No wonder the world is laughing about us. Seriously, I have nothing to add. If Germany is continuing to be like this we will face a serious problem in the future.

See you next time!
