#118 Racing is life – Season 2 Episode 2 – The road map – My next steps in Motorsport

Where do I come from? Where do I want to go?

This blog post is intended to answer some questions about my future in motorsport.

Today, my racing experience isn’t that big. Yes, I have spent some hours in karts, formula student cars and normal street cars, that is correct. Furthermore I have spent quite some time on my racing simulator. But what does that mean compared to real motorsport? Not much! Of course I have improved a lot over the last couple of years, due to my focused practicing which I am doing on a highly competitive level, but still, there are so many things I need to learn. Some hopefully in the easy way, but others in the hard way, I guess.

The road map” is intended as a guideline to where I want to go and how I will go there. I divided it into three different phases, which will be referred to as stage 1, stage 2 and stage 3.

Today, I will give a general overview about these three stages before I will discuss them in more detail in other posts.

The three stages are the following.

Stage 1 – Getting started
Stage 2 – Starting to race
Stage 3 – Professional racing

Ok, ok. So what are these stages about?

Stage 1 – Getting started

This stage stands for the beginning of my real life motorsport experience. It represents the next step, which I will do in the next 3-4 years. The main task of this phase is to get a race car and start to actually drive on racetracks.

Goal: Buying a car, transform it into a street legal race car, start to drive on circuits and on trackdays/ Touristenfahrten.

Finance: 100% my money

Time frame: 2020 – 2024

Stage 2 – Starting to race

In this second step, I will start to actually go racing. For this, I will start in the RCN on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where I can start to get my first real world racing experience.

Goal: Start with some events and build up a team / get together with like minded people. Starting to roll out my marketing strategy to get some financial support. Build up a sponsor relationship and prepare the team for getting more professional.

Finance: 100% at the beginning, Rollout of marketing strategy which will increase external support. Goal: To get at least to a 50% / 50% ratio.

Time frame: 2024 – 2027

Stage 3 – Professional Racing

In this last step, we will go racing professionally. This means, we will participate in the VLN and the 24h Race regularly.

Goal: Participate in a complete RCN, later VLN series. Participate in the 24h race every year. Staying in motorsport.

Finance: 100% through the marketing strategy and the business plan.

Time frame: 2028 – death or too old for competitive racing

Personal note

And this is it. My road map for my next steps in motorsport. It is a long way to go, of course and there will be multiple occasions and situations that can speed up or slow down the process, but of course I will just push through as always.
