Dream – Act – Succeed
Hello and welcome to another part of Project W (Double you), where we will double your life, double your skills, double your potential to grow.
Today’s topic is all about reflecting on what you are doing. Why is that important, you are asking? Because this is one of the most important, if not the most important things you can start with today, to get going into the right direction.
“Learning from mistakes”. We have all heard that therm somewhere, right? Maybe at school, in University, in our jobs our basically in our free time. Learning from mistakes makes just sense to us all. You do something wrong, realize that it was obviously wrong, and next time, you don’t do it again. Right? That’s what we all do! Or let’s say, we try. Sometimes, we make the same mistake again, but after that, I guess we finally understand it.
Mhh, but the thing is, why don’t we do that with everything we are doing?
Since my early childhood I am personally do that. Not actively, so it is not my decision, it’s just an internal process, starting off in my head. Can’t stop it, but actually, don’t want to stop it anyways. For me, that is just normal and I assumed, that everybody is doing the same. Having this ongoing reflecting process running in our minds. Looking for improvements wherever we can.
Well, after growing up a little bit, I understand now, that this is not normal behavior. This is not what you are doing. You wanna go shopping? Then do that, but don’t improve the process like a maniac, this is absurd!
But well, call it what ever you want! This is fucking amazing. Because this will make your life so much easier.
Today, I want you to honestly consider to try this out yourself. Because this will change your life! Why? Because you will reflect on everything you are doing! Similar to a quality manager at a company who will work with the “5S” method, you will do the following five steps:
- “Seiri” “Sort out“
- “Seiton” “Tidy up“
- “Seiso” “Cleaning“
- “Seiketsu” “Maintain condition“
- “Shitsuke” “Disciplin“
You are basically looking for “Ohno” “waste of effort“, and improve your life.
There is a blog post from Seth Godin, written back in 2010 with the title “The world’s worst boss” and it goes like that.
The world’s worst boss
That would be you.
Even if you’re not self-employed, your boss is you. You manage your career, your day, your responses. You manage how you sell your services and your education and the way you talk to yourself.
Odds are, you’re doing it poorly.
If you had a manager that talked to you the way you talked to you, you’d quit. If you had a boss that wasted as much of your time as you do, they’d fire her. If an organization developed its employees as poorly as you are developing yourself, it would soon go under.

And that is so right. How much time do you actually waste with things you either don’t want to do, or don’t like to do? Too much! Believe me! Because even I can improve upon so many things.
But yes, I understand your concerns. Where is this ending? You need time for yourself, relaxing, having a great time. Sure, I understand that. But why don’t you improve on that as well? Nobody said life needs to be hard! Life doesn’t need to be hard. You decide on that! But why don’t you start by improving upon your relaxing process? Making the movie evenings even more exciting? Or your lunch break at work, or the evenings with your friends. Nobody is talking about making cut backs. This is not about removing the joy from your life, this is about removing the things you don’t like, making space for the things you actually enjoy doing.
But of course, I understand! Your situation is just so unique, you have all these things in your life. You can not possibly do that! All right! All right! Nobody expects anything from you. This is your life. Do what you want! But please, don’t tell yourself that you can’t change something! You can tell it to me, or your friends, or your family, or to whoever you want to. But don’t lie to yourself! It is never about not being able to change it, it is always just about if you want to do it or not.
Maybe you should have a look at this, if you think your story is unique. #141 The uniqueness of ones own story …
So how do we do it?
You simply reflect on everything you are doing. No matter of you are cleaning the windows, cooking in the kitchen, driving to work, or study for an exam. Every single thing in your life can be either improved by doing it better, faster or more conscious, or reduced in order to make more space for the important things in your life. How much TV do you watch? How much time do you spent on social media. There is so much potential for you to grow! As you can see in my category, the road to success, this is not just me, telling you what you should do. This is me telling you why I can do so much. And if I can do that, you can do that as well!
See you next time!
