Have you ever wondered about the fact, when learning will ever stop? Sure, we all know the answer to that already, right? It doesn’t! But it just feels better to think that we will be finally finished with learning someday or another somewhere down the road.
Being at school, we were always looking forward to the moment when we would leave that place. Being at university, we were always looking forward to the moment when we would leave that place as well.
Looking at this from a wider perspective, it seems like people just want to get over with that. Just pass all the exams and you are fine! You will have learned it all! You will be someone! Somehow!
But that is of course not true. After studying for years, we will still know nothing. We might have heard some theory here and there, but out here in the Wild West, in reality, this is as useful as a parking slot for blind people, right?
We leave university or school with the mindset that we are the kings, but well, well, well. So little do we know.
Life long learning is of course the key to success. This is the attitude towards life you need. Accept that you will never know anything there is to know. There will always be someone more intelligent, more obsessed with the details, or simply investing more time into the topic. Therefore, in order to move on in life, you need to be open minded regarding the topic of learning.
You need to make sure that you completely understand how this system is working. Every single day you wake up, this is another chance for you to move on, to work on your skills, to improve and learn something new.
Therefore, stop talking yourself out of the process! It is now or never! Start accepting who you are and that learning is a part of your life. It will not work without it, believe me.
Back in school, someone was obviously pushing you into studying this or studying that. But later on in life, this will change dramatically. Your boss will not tell you what you need to know, they just want to see results. In fact, they do not even care about you so much! You are just a number, another machine that needs to be working perfectly. Sure, this is a very sad thing and of course not always like that, but the older I get, the more obvious such a mindset pops up here and there. And it doesn’t only stop at work, you will experience the same at home, in your neighborhood, or your tennis club. In this society you need to be someone, right?
Well, to be honest, I don’t care! Because I stopped pleasing others with what I do. Therefore, go out there and finally start learning the things you are really interested in. Get yourself into photography, or drawing, or computer programming or what ever you want to do.
Life is too short to learn everything, you may just focus on the things you really like!
See you next time!
