I am not sure how much my audience is interested into this topic, but today we will talk about it anyways. That car design is an ever changing industry should be clear to everyone. At the end of the day you want to create an environment in which the customer wants to change his old car for a newer model.
That design is a highly individual thing is clear too. Not everyone needs to like it, but your main customers should.
Let’s face it, there is always a discussion about something new. In the past 100 years of the automobile sector, car design was constantly changing. Agreed, the step to electric cars is changing some fundamentals, but new technologies have always allowed more crazy and futuristic designs.
A designer never lives in the current world. Cars are getting design ahead of their time. This means two things. One brand new car today, was literally designed 5 years ago. But it also means that the design should be capable of going through the years of production until another new version will come in 5 to 8 years.
Nevertheless, I still can’t really understand what is going on these days. Maybe it’s just me and my taste of things, but the most of the modern cars look ugly. There is no other way how to say it. They are too clean, too smooth, too shapy. I don’t know if you get what I want to say. They look like they were formed by water over million years in a river. Where are the boxy rough looking cars from the past? Why is nobody doing that? Well, let’s see what the future might bring. This is definitely a chance for other manufactures to win over new customers.
See you next time!
