Many years ago I did an apprenticeship as a technical product designer. During that time, drawing sketches and complicated drawings by hand was a part of my training. Of course I was drawing cars all my life, starting as early as Kindergarten I would claim. But I never tried to bring it onto the next level. For me, this was more of a way to make boring university lectures more interesting and the like. I just did it whenever I had some time, but never for the sake of actually drawing. I think this is the big difference now. I want to draw for the sake of drawing. Learning how to put ideas onto a piece of paper. I wouldn’t say that I am particularly skilled, but I have an interest in cars and car design. Ah, and it will be helpful in my new job.
