Last time I checked, it was still 2026. Sometimes it feels good to get reminded about the year we are living in. It’s still planet earth, even though Tesla is showing off flying cars. What probably started as a hilarious idea at Tesla has become a very good publicity stunt. Yes, it’s true, a flying car is something special. Something people talk about. Something everyone has an opinion about.
Will we fly to work in the future? The answer is most likely no. Airspace is highly restricted. We can’t just take off wherever we want. But that is also not the idea Tesla had in mind. It’s not about flying anywhere. It’s all about having a unique selling point. It’s about knowing that your car has a feature that others do not have. Safety, ecological aspects, that comes later. What matters is that you have a big show and hopefully gain enough traction that people buy your product. And hey! That was a very good way of doing just that.
